Venus Flytrap Wyvern

I've always been really interested in and inspired by nature and exotic plantlife, especially with insects and animals that are able to mimic other plants, like flowers, leaves and bark, and even other animals through millions of years of evolution.
One of my favourite hobbies is gardening, mostly with indoor plants as they are all mainly tropical with the most gorgeous leaves.
I wanted to create something that follows this evolutionary path, combined with the fantasy/sci fi theme.

I initially explored a few different concepts of plant and leaf variations, but the venus fly trap is so unique, along with its carnivorous tactics, i knew it had to be around that.
Some venus flytraps have unique colouring, with dark purples and sometimes pinks contrasting with the usual chlorophyll green, and felt these shades were perfect for my design.
I focussed on some parts of its anatomy such as its feet, wings and tongue to get a good understanding of how this creature survives.
All drawn and painted in procreate on the ipad, and presentation made in Photoshop.
