Personal project to push me out of my comfort zone and to brush up on my creature design skills! I wanted to try and show how my process works, through initial basic sketching, thumbails exploring shape and silhouette then further refining, all the while using real-world references gathered onto a moodboard. This little guy is kind of cutesy-horror and I imagined he would reside in dark and gloomy environments, enticing players towards him with his glowing lure at the end of his tail. He is completely blind, so can only sense the vibrations of the character's movement. The fluorescence gives the player more fair warning (using a UV torch) in much darker corners and helps them realise which parts of the creature to avoid, such as the claws and tail.
